Muscogee School District Website and Portals on Microsoft SharePoint Platform

ATLANTA—(August 16, 2011)—B2B Technologies, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner, Microsoft Education Partner and provider of IT consulting services, announces the Muscogee County School District (MCSD) launch of its new public website: MCSD engaged B2B Technologies and Microsoft to design, develop, and deploy this website using Microsoft SharePoint 2010.

The MCSD Communications initiative, Keep PACE (Proactive Administration of Communications in Education), encourages streamlining communications processes. After careful consideration, the School District decided on the Microsoft SharePoint platform to modernize and improve the capabilities of its public website. Microsoft and B2B Technologies were selected to implement a solution relying on extensive SharePoint experience and expertise with K-12 schools to implement a collaborative interaction model. In addition, B2B Technologies led the development of two additional secured internal sites for use by MCSD staff, which allows authorized users to post content directly online.

The MCSD customized SharePoint solution includes:

  • A more user friendly MCSD public website , providing parents and students with easy access to the latest information about their local school and enhanced online search capability.

  • A Staff Portal that gives school administrators and staff anywhere, anytime access to a single, secured comprehensive knowledgebase with links to news, events, facilities, technology services, benefits, financial information and more. Documentation and multimedia files are easily accessible from a centralized repository via the Internet on a PC, Smartphone, tablet or other mobile device.

  • A Project Management Portal is a centralized area online where administrators and team members can track all aspects of a project, such as milestones, tasks, messages, documentation, and updates to ensure project planning and execution align with the School District’s processes and goals.

“The decision to choose B2B Technologies was based on their deep knowledge of the unique needs of K-12 educational institutions and impressive track record of implementing Microsoft SharePoint solutions in innovative ways,” said Dr. Forrest Toelle, chief information officer, Muscogee County School District.

“Our new website and employee intranet portals have received high praise and are widely used. B2B Technologies has done an outstanding job on the development and support of the first part of a multi-part engagement. We look forward to partnering with them as we continue to roll out new features that will provide our students, parents, teachers, administrators and staff with simplified access to Muscogee County School District information,” added Toelle.

“As a Microsoft Education Partner since 2003, B2B Technologies has worked with over 50 school districts throughout the nation to implement solutions that enable collaboration and communication in exciting ways, based on the Microsoft SharePoint platform,” said Frank Fuerst, co-founder and president of B2B Technologies. “We are pleased to work with the Muscogee County School District of Georgia, recognized as among the best in the Central Georgia Region, to provide enhanced online website and intranet portal capabilities.”

The Muscogee County School District is located in Columbus, Georgia. The district serves more than 32,000 students (K-12) who attend 64 schools and alternative centers and more than 6,000 employees.
