On October 26, 2012, Microsoft released Windows 8 and Windows RT to the general public with events all over the world. The new Windows moves away from the Windows of the past towards a cloud-based solution that supports the on-the-go user. Consumer and corporate users alike will benefit from the ability to access cloud-based versions of Word, PowerPoint and Excel with Office 365, Microsoft's cloud-based versions of these tools. This gives you the ability to access all your Office 365 or SkyDrive documents from anywhere and edit them using the Microsoft tools you are familiar with.

By creating a Windows with a fluid, easily personalized interface that is optimized for touch screen devices, Microsoft is changing the way people interact with their digital information. And with the ability to access your information and personal settings by simply logging in to your Microsoft account on any of your devices running Windows 8, you can take your Windows with you wherever you go. All the features you loved from previous versions of Windows are still here, but they're now easier to use and more efficient than ever before.

There are three versions of Windows that are currently available from the new release: Windows RT, Windows 8, and Windows 8 Pro.

Below is a chart describing the major differences between the three versions so you can decide which is right for you.
