How We Can Help

There is a high incidence of Business Intelligence projects that do not succeed, if consultants are not knowledgeable in all issues relative to architecting a structure or have strategy to meet both the goals of IT and the business sponsors.  That’s why our projects are successful – we understand these issues!

Our work begins when a prospect asks us to propose services. As with any project, we carefully analyze the overall scope of what the client wants to achieve. We know that for any given BI project there are certain factors that will help ensure success:

  • Decreasing the time to deliver usable information to end users
  • Eliminating conditions that limit the access to information
  • Reducing the complexity of information
  • Making sure the data warehouse and any operational data stores are well defined
  • Understanding and defining the format in which content will be delivered for reports, analysis, for performance management
  • Getting agreement from both IT and business sponsor representatives as to deliverables

B2B believes in engaging business users early in the process in order to incorporate all perspectives with regards to shared data . . . particularly since they will be usually be vested with results of the project.  We do not subscribe to the “build it and they will come” mentality.  For Business Intelligence projects to be successful an analysis of the requirements is completed and a preliminary design of the system is drafted before development begins.  Later, through a process of refinement and verification, B2B consultants continue to focus the new system to both user and information technology goals.

E
arly and complete analysis of information

Because information delivery is driven by business data, B2B consultants will work as a team with IT and information consumers to define each data element that will be required and its source within the organization and/or as provided from a third party. This part of our engagement plan is just one section of our Analysis and Design function, but is most important to the success of this type of project.

Balancing information needs

Distilling what may be complex information from hundreds or thousands of originating points is a value we bring from years of experience working with all levels of users across most industries including government, education, and commercial. The most comprehensive sets of data in a warehouse are of little value if the end users are not able to use it easily and effectively. We see delivery as an iterative process, which allows us to engage users, incorporating their feedback and increasing adoption.  This method ensures users will derive maximum benefit from the information.

The proof of how B2B can deliver a solution that will meet your requirements is best exemplified by our many successful engagements. Please see the case studies for the Business Intelligence practice for more information.
