B2B Technologies creates Online Report Card for Georgia's Schools.
ATLANTA, GA - December 4, 2001 - B2B Technologies, an Atlanta-based developer
of Web applications, in partnership with The Wrightidea Services, has completed
development and launched the 2000-2001 K - 12 Report Card for the Georgia Office
of Education Accountability (www.ga-oea.org).
With a mandate to improve school achievement, the Office of Education
Accountability (OEA) needed an efficient way to publicize school performance to
parents, teachers, school administrators and the citizens of Georgia. OEA
decided to create a Web-based report card that contains test results, as well as
other information relevant to schools and their performance toward the goals of
student achievement and school completion.
The site posed some technical challenges since the Report Card’s objective
was to present information in an easy to interpret graphical format. With over
1.2 million records, performance was also a major consideration. "Not only did
we have to deal with a large amount of data, we also had to deal with generating
37,000 graphs on the fly," said Jim Tebbel, a senior developer at B2B
Technologies.
The 2000-2001 Report Card shows two-year comparisons (2000 and 2001 test
results) for Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests, the Middle Grades Writing
Assessment, and Georgia High School Graduation Tests. Assessment results are
summarized at the school, school system, and state level. Disaggregated data is
also provided by different student groupings such as race/ethnicity, sex,
disability, and limited English proficiency.
"B2B Technologies’ hard work is really paying off, the comments are positive;
they did a wonderful job!" said Melodee Davis, Assistant Director of Information
Management for the Office of Education Accountability. "They provided us with a
very polished-looking Web-based report card in a short amount of time" said
Davis.
"B2B came through with flying colors. They were able to pick up on the
client’s desires and translate that into a solid Web site. Ultimately, that made
my job easier!" said Jim Wright, President of The Wrightidea Services, Inc.
OEA hopes that the information contained in this report and future reports
will be used to make positive changes in education that will support teachers
and help parents and students.
