B2B Technologies Launches Safari Site for African Client

Even businesses in the heart of Africa need a fresh presence on the Web to remain competitive

ATLANTA, GA, November 17, 2000 – B2B Technologies, developers and integrators of profit-making Internet applications, announces the launch of their newest project, www.maasai.com, the Web site for Campi ya Kanzi safari camp in Kenya.

The camp’s original Web site was built several years ago, and was not up to the same high standards as the camp itself. Campi ya Kanzi engaged B2B Technologies to design, develop and promote a second-generation site that would enhance the camp’s image. The new site also provides a "self-service" booking feature to allow the site’s visitors to make reservations directly with the camp.

The highlight of the new site is the photography: over 50 photos of the camp, wildlife and local Maasai people. All photos were taken at the camp, either by staff or guests. The site has already proven successful, receiving its first reservation request less than 48 hours after it went live.

Luca Belpietro is the owner and manager of Campi ya Kanzi. He was born in Italy and has split his time between Italy and Kenya. At the conclusion of the project, he said "BELLISSIMO! The site is at least 10 times better than before. We think you have done a great job. Many thanks for all your efforts and congratulations for a marvelous site!"

According to Frank Fuerst, president of B2B Technologies, "Campi ya Kanzi is our first client on the continent of Africa. There are some challenges dealing with a client exclusively by email, especially when their only connection to the Internet is a satellite phone with a 2400bps modem costing a dollar per minute. Nonetheless, this project was a success, and we’ve already had inquiries from other safari camps in Africa who are interested in replicating the success of Campi ya Kanzi."

Campi ya Kanzi (Camp of the Hidden Treasure) is six hours by Land Rover from Nairobi, Kenya. It’s a luxurious private safari camp for African travelers wanting to avoid the national parks, which can often feel overcrowded with tourists. With 400 square miles of private land to explore, and a maximum of 14 guests, visitors know they’ll have a high-quality, private safari experience.
