MOSSMOSIS – A New Consortium Hits the Ground Running

Atlanta, Georgia - June 28, 2007 - In May, B2B Technologies launched a new umbrella organization to foster the sharing of information around the Microsoft MOSS (Microsoft Office SharePoint Server) product. This application is the next evolution of the SharePoint 2003 product and dramatically expands the utility and usefulness of many functions for creating and leveraging portals. B2B Technologies, a Microsoft Gold Partner and leading organization in portal development, believed it would benefit the user communities to foster an open exchange of information about how MOSS could be used to automate many ordinary (and not-so-ordinary) tasks.

In April, B2B personnel reviewed the various ways this collaborative environment could be created and coined the word MOSSMOSIS to signify taking the value of the MOSS product into any organization, through a process of “osmosis”. Microsoft hosted the first meeting in May in which one of B2B’s trainers began a two part presentation on building Workflows using MOSS. The second meeting in June saw attendance almost double. “We’re excited in the early interest shown in this venue and Microsoft is very supportive of its focus and direction,” said Matt Tinkler, B2B’s CIO.

B2B Technologies expects the interest to continue to expand and eventually spread regionally if not nationally. MOSSMOSIS will remain as a guiding organizational structure setting the basic goals to be followed for each local group; however, the individual organizations will operate autonomously – much like a federation. B2B anticipates an ongoing relationship with all splinter groups through general guidance and promotion of regional (and national) MOSSMOSIS user events.
