Wake Forest Extends Campus-Wide Communication with B2B Technologies using New Internet Portal and Pocket PC's

Atlanta, Georgia - June 22, 2006 - Recognized as one of the leading universities in the use of emerging technologies, Wake Forest University has continued its deployment of new communication technologies with B2B’s assistance.

B2B Technologies was selected in late 2005 to design and create a new Internet Portal to act as a central conduit for the Wake Forest University community. In addition, working with Microsoft Corporation’s newest release of its mobile platform, B2B was able to deliver what it believes to be the first Pocket PC applications to extend communication beyond the traditional Internet reach for a major University.

Part of the goal was to ensure the widest reach of communication to those physically on the Campus as well as to the extended WFU community to include Administrators, Teachers, Students, Parents, Alumni, Prospective Students, and anyone needing to do business with the University. “The ubiquitous nature of the new generation of cell phones and advanced capabilities to function as a mini-computer provided the platform for Wake Forest to dramatically extend the reach of their communication needs,” according to the President of B2B Technologies, Frank Fuerst. “Coupled with the new Portal built around Microsoft’s SharePoint Server product, Teachers, Students, and others can communicate and collaborate on most any subject of interest.”

Wake Forest envisions taking this to the next level of campus-to-campus communication so that collaboration and asset sharing can become commonplace between different colleges and universities willing to participate.
