B2B Technologies to Address GAUGE Conference

Atlanta, Georgia - March 28, 2008 - This year’s GAUGE Conference to be held at the King and Prince Resort on Saint Simons Island in late April will have a joint presentation by Houston County School System and B2B Technologies describing the new student Dashboard and Reporting system. This new portal application is the first system in the State of Georgia that provides a current and historical view of not only a student’s individual progress but also tracks overall performance of consolidated data relative to courses, teachers, an individual school, and the district.

The new application integrates information initially warehoused in an IBM mid-range computer and then extracted into an Operational Data Store (ODS) maintained in a Microsoft database. From that source, the reports are then developed and provide information that “rolls up” from the student all the way to the entire county. Depending on an individual’s security level and “need to know” status, only information relative to their inquiry will be provided.

A wide variety of information is included in the database for analysis and comparative purposes. Not only is standardized testing scores provided by the state stored, but also other information that can prove valuable to seeing how other factors may change a student’s success in school. This can include locally administered tests, demographic information, attendance records, etc. “We see this system as one that can stand as an example for other school districts, not only in Georgia but in other states. It is something that has been mentioned as needed many times at other state meetings over the years, and now here is a solution that solves the problem,” says Ken Guthrie of B2B Technologies.
